MDCG 2020-16 rev.5: EU IVDR Classification Guidance Updated
11 September 2026Background
swissdamed is Switzerland’s economic operator and device registration database, modeled after the EUDAMED Actor and UDI/Device registration modules.
The swissdamed device registration module became mandatory starting 1 July 2026, with a six-month transition period, i.e., registration must be completed by 31 December 2026.
The transition period applies to all devices (even those placed newly on the market after 1 July 2026), except in situations where vigilance reporting is required, in which case the device must be registered immediately.
Swissmedic conducted a live webinar in May 2026 and is now conducting another live session in November 2026.
